T-Mobile Expands Clients Coverage to United Airlines – The Travel Collab You Didn’t Know You Needed
This comprehensive set of benefits includes faster download speeds and a wider coverage area than ever before, as well as unlimited data, call and text messaging in more than 140 countries worldwide.
With this suite of remarkable benefits, customers can now stay connected with their friends and family around the world without having to worry about expensive international roaming charges.
On June 21, a new set of perks and benefits became available to customers that are sure to make their travel experiences more enjoyable.
These benefits include complimentary Wi-Fi on airlines and an increased amount of high-speed data coverage in international areas, as well as other exclusive offers such as free AAA membership, discounted rates when booking with Priceline and even some limited fuel discounts.
“With summer travel demand up and inflation affecting everyone, we’re looking to connect our customers differently,” T-Mobile’s consumer senior vice president Kevin McLaughlin told TPG in an interview at the time.
“We know there’s a huge desire to get back to travel, and we’re going to help people connect to the world better, and save money, too.”
Going ahead, T-Mobile has now broadened its program to include United Airlines in the existing lineup of three airlines – Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. This expanded coverage will provide customers with more options for air travel benefits when they purchase a qualifying device or accessory from T-Mobile.
Expanded high-speed international data coverage
As part of its Coverage Beyond initiative, T-Mobile is now offering its Magenta MAX and Business Unlimited Ultimate plan to customers.
This plan provides extraordinary benefits, such as 5 gigabytes of free high-speed data every month with speeds up to 5 GB in over 200 countries around the globe. With this revolutionary new feature, users can stay connected while they are traveling abroad without fear of costly roaming charges or slow internet speed.
The expanded access will be automatic, with no opt-ins or sign-ups required. “Our customers want to step off the plane with their phone and want it just to work,” McLaughlin explained.
If customers exceed the 5GB of data that they are offered, they have the option to purchase a day pass for an additional fee or to continue using data at a rate of 256 kilobytes per second.
This is an ideal solution for those who need access to more data on a short-term basis and don’t want to commit to a long-term plan.
Regular Magenta customers, and those with most business plans, will now receive an incredible 256 KB per second for their international data access worldwide – a substantial increase from the previous speed.
This is more than enough to facilitate everyday tasks such as emails, texting and basic GPS directions; however, it likely won’t be sufficient to handle more intensive activities like streaming high-definition video or downloading large files.
Additionally, customers will have 5 GB of high-speed access in the 11 Deutsche Telecom-covered countries (Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and Slovakia).
In addition to the existing free texting access available in all destinations, T-Mobile customers can enjoy continued benefits while traveling to Canada and Mexico on most plans with 5 GB of high-speed data and free calls.
This remarkable offer ensures that customers are able to continue utilizing their plan’s features without any additional costs.
Free airline Wi-Fi
The much-anticipated launch of T-Mobile’s free high-speed streaming access on select Alaska, American and Delta flights is finally here. As of June 21, passengers traveling with these airlines can now enjoy improved Wi-Fi speeds without the burden of exorbitant fees. This is a welcome relief for travelers who have had to grapple with slow access speeds and expensive fees in the past. According to McLaughlin, this exciting new offering promises an enhanced travel experience that will no doubt be appreciated by many airline passengers around the world.
United has just announced it will join other airlines in offering free Wi-Fi to T-Mobile users. “If you’re an eligible T-Mobile customer, starting this fall, you’ll get free inflight Wi-Fi on all domestic and international flights,” according to United’s website. “Availability on flights operated by United Express will soon follow.”
No specific information has been released yet about when United’s program will commence and which plans will be eligible for the service. However, it is highly probable that customers must have a subscription to the T-Mobile Magenta plan in order to utilize this opportunity. Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding these details shortly.
The Wi-Fi access will be available on a wide range of flights covering an expansive and reliable domestic market, as explained by McLaughlin. This service will depend on particular airline carriers’ technical capabilities and satellite connections, thus allowing passengers to stay connected during their journey.
Currently, T-Mobile is collaborating with a number of satellite carriers in order to amplify its service coverage across multiple airlines and various airplane models. As a result, some international flights will be equipped with T-Mobile Wi-Fi connections, allowing passengers to stay connected while they travel.
T-Mobile customers subscribed to the Magenta MAX and Business Unlimited Ultimate plans will be able to enjoy unlimited free airline streaming Wi-Fi connections for the entirety of their flights. This amazing perk is also offered to those who are signed up with equivalent Sprint plans, making them eligible for this incredible opportunity as well.
However, customers who have been with T-Mobile for a while need not worry; their Magenta plan, and any other plans they may have, will provide them with complimentary Wi-Fi access on four of their flights in one year. Furthermore, for any additional flights that may be taken during the same period, they will receive one hour of free Wi-Fi access.
In essence, customers who are already taking advantage of T-Mobile’s complimentary or reduced cost access for services like Apple TV, MLB Network and Netflix will now be able to conveniently enjoy their favorite entertainment on selected flights. This provides an additional benefit to those users that can take full advantage of the airline’s Wi-Fi connection.
Bonus travel benefits with AAA, Priceline and Shell
T-Mobile’s Coverage Beyond program isn’t just for those who are lucky enough to jet off around the world. The cellular provider has also considered domestic travelers and road trippers, offering a range of benefits specifically tailored to this group of users. So whether you’re globetrotting or embarking on an exciting road trip in the US, T-Mobile has you covered.
T-Mobile has established a beneficial partnership with AAA, allowing their customers on Magenta, Magenta MAX and certain business plans to receive complimentary AAA membership that ordinarily costs $60 annually. This advantageous offer includes 24-hour roadside assistance as well; however, the AAA membership will be renewed at market rates unless it is canceled before renewal time.
T-Mobile recently revealed a 25-cent discount on fuel at Shell gas stations that is valid through the week of Labor Day. This promotion could potentially be replicated in the future, with similar offers being made available to customers. It is certainly worth keeping an eye out for potential discounts and promotions that may arise in the near future due to T-Mobile’s willingness to make such savings available.
An interesting addition to T-Mobile’s range of new perks is the innovative “T-Mobile Travel with Priceline” discount travel booking program. By signing up for this exciting offer, T-Mobile customers can now take advantage of exclusive hotel and rental car deals from Priceline.com, along with the ability to book airline tickets through the same program. This unique opportunity provides those who are subscribed to T-Mobile with an exclusive way to save money on their next vacation or business trip.
Despite not having tested the booking system yet, TPG customers have reportedly achieved significant savings when booking hotel stays in Hawaii. According to a press release from T-Mobile, customers have saved an average of $100 per night on Hawaiian hotel rooms and received up to $900 in discounts for a six-day holiday in Miami. This is a great incentive for those looking to book their next vacation with TPG.
Bottom line
T-Mobile’s new travel benefits are certain to be an amazing advantage for current subscribers and could also serve as a strong motivator for people who have yet to join the program or upgrade their existing plans. These new perks may just be the tipping point that encourages even more individuals to become part of the T-Mobile network, helping them experience all that it has to offer.
Many of the most desirable features can only be found on T-Mobile’s two top-tier, more expensive plans – Magenta MAX and Business Unlimited Ultimate. These plans come with a higher price tag than other options, but they offer access to some of the best features available.
Despite the fact that even regular Magenta subscribers will benefit from perks such as elevated airline Wi-Fi, international accessibility and AAA membership, the fuel program discounts are minimal at best. Nevertheless, with the inflation rate this summer season, each tiny bit can assist in making a difference.
